Before You Travel

Planning the Weekend

Saturday is played at the U.S. Naval Academy, so arrival takes more planning than an ordinary tournament morning: there is no parking on base, and every adult needs clearance before the weekend.

Saturday · October 10
Location
U.S. Naval Academy, Gate 8 — 94 Bowyer Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401. All six tournament fields are at Forrest Sherman Field — see the Saturday field map.
Parking
Parking is not permitted at the Academy this weekend, with the Navy football game and the Annapolis Power Boat Show both in town. Park off-site at Anne Arundel Community College, Lot F — 101 College Parkway, Arnold, MD 21012 — where 800 spaces are available.
Shuttle
Shuttles run from Lot F directly to Forrest Sherman Field, and back to Lot F afterwards. Allow 15–18 minutes each way without traffic.
Drop-Off
Families who would rather skip the shuttle can be dropped at Gate 8, 94 Bowyer Rd, and walk to the fields, about 10 minutes.
Under 18
Players and other minors cannot enter the base without a parent, so one parent walks in with them while the driver parks. Families without a second adult should take the shuttle together, or use a rideshare such as Uber to Gate 8.
Clearance
Everyone 18 and older must complete the base clearance form before arriving; guests under 18 do not. Submitting it returns a six-digit code — show that to staff before boarding the shuttle, and no further security check is needed.
Form Details
On the last page, enter sponsor Joe Cook, cook@usna.edu, 410-293-8729. Under Site, select Service: Navy, Country: United States, State: Maryland, then choose Naval Support Activity Annapolis.
Identification
Every adult must also carry a REAL ID, U.S. passport or military ID. The Naval Academy is a military institution and there are no exceptions.
Sunday · October 11
Location
Chesapeake High School, 4798 Mountain Rd, Pasadena, MD 21122 — see the Sunday field map.
Parking
Park in the main lot directly in front of the school, or in the Chesapeake Bay Middle School lot.
Friday · October 9
Boat Show
The Annapolis Power Boat Show runs in downtown Annapolis all weekend, right outside the Academy — one reason parking is tight across the city.
Academy Tours
The Yard, the Academy's campus, is open to the public. Guests with a military ID can drive on through Gate 1 or Gate 8; everyone else parks as close to Gate 1 as possible and walks in through the pedestrian visitor center. Explore on your own, or book a guided tour.
Brigade Parade
Before every home football game the Brigade of Midshipmen parades at Worden Field, open to all guests at no cost. It starts around 4:00 PM and runs about an hour. Worden Field is on the Yard, so the same entry process applies.
Navy Lacrosse
If you are in town early, Navy men's lacrosse practices at 12:00 PM at Dewey Field or Rip Miller Field — both on the Yard, same entry process.
Saturday · After Play
Navy vs. Tulsa
Saturday's games should wrap around 3:00 PM, and kickoff at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is 3:30 PM. Discounted group tickets are a flat $46 for any listed seat, against roughly $98 on the secondary market — no code needed.
Boat Show
The boat show is still running downtown through Saturday.
